BWDD – July 26, 2020

Please join me this evening for another edition of Blue Water Drift Dive on RadioSpiral.net!

Tonight we will be focusing on space music proper, that indefinable genre of evocative music that inspires visions of the cosmos, overlapping Berlin school, downtempo electronica, new age, melodic ambient, and even drone music.

First, we will hear a block of stunning space travel soundtracks from mon0. Then we follow up and close with an outstanding longplayer from Ombient and Chuck van Zyl performed at The Gatherings in 2017. I’m really looking forward to (and need!) a deep dive into electronic space music with a truly cosmological viewpoint, something that I find to be a good send-off into the work week.

Of course, I’ll be opening with a live performance that I hope sets the stage for all the wonderful music to come.

The show happens tonight around 10/9/8/7p (2a UTC), immediately following the end of Tony Gerber’s fantastic Ambient Sundays program, and will last at least 2 hours. As with all RadioSpiral.net programs, the emphasis is on community, so of course there is a live chat. If you tune in, I hope you’ll stop by and say hello …
